Dr. Akshay Kumar’s journey into cardiac surgery began not just as a career choice, but as a calling. Growing up witnessing the devastating impact of untreated heart disease in India, he committed himself to mastering the most complex discipline in medicine — cardiothoracic surgery.
Trained at some of Mumbai’s most rigorous institutions — T.N. Medical College and KEM Hospital — he then crossed continents to pursue advanced fellowships in the United States, gaining expertise in pediatric cardiac surgery, ECMO, and heart-lung transplantation that is rare even among senior surgeons globally.
Today, with over 10,000 procedures and a 98% success rate, Dr. Kumar brings this rare blend of global training and deep compassion to every patient who walks through his door at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai.
